The south coast of the Crimea

The south coast of the Crimea is a strip of the Black Sea coast of Crimea 2-8 km wide, stretching from Cape Aya (near Balaklava) in the west to the Kara-Dag mountain (near Koktebel) in the east. At present it is the most popular tourist region in the Crimea with the most developed resort infrastructure.

The climate of the southern coast of the Crimea is subtropical, close to the climate of the south of France and northern Italy. Due to the proximity of the sea there is no excessive heat, the average daily air temperature in the warmest month is July + 24 ° C, and above + 30 ° C the temperature rises rarely, but even high temperatures are relatively easy to transport due to low humidity.

The tourist season opens in the first half of June, when the temperature of the coastal waters is already steadily kept in a comfortable for bathing limits. As warm weather lasts longer on the south coast, and the water cools down more slowly, the season ends here later than at other resorts of the peninsula, usually at the end of September. The period lasting approximately from the beginning to the end of this month is called the velvet season.

The relief of the Southern Coast of Crimea, unlike the rest of the Crimea, is mountainous. Absolutely in any resort of this region you will be surrounded by mountains, which provides beautiful views and constant descents and ascents on your way. Another feature of this relief is a different microclimate and the weather in the resorts are only a few kilometers from each other. For example, if your resort is in a rainy, windy or uproar sea, sometimes it's worth a couple of kilometers to a neighboring bay, and there will be great weather.
