Mount Sokol (Kush-Kaya)

The name of the mountain is due to the fact that on the northeast side it resembles a bird spreading its wings. It came to our days and the name given by the Romans - the Senator, apparently, it was so christened for the majestic view.

Sokol is popular among climbers, on its slopes is laid many routes of varying degrees of complexity. Nevertheless, an unprepared tourist can also climb the Sokol without special equipment.
But before describing the beauties opening from the top of the mountain, we want to immediately warn our readers that:
Firstly, even on the easiest trails there are several dangerous places, so an unnecessary risk is going into a drunk asleep, in unsuitable shoes.

Secondly, it is quite easy to get lost on the mountain. Having risen on it, tourists often can not find a way down, such poor creatures from the mountain regularly take off by rescuers. Running forward, we advise you to climb with an experienced guide, or very carefully work out the route before climbing.

What to see on Mount Sokol?
On the mountain itself, there is really nothing to look at. But its top is not covered with forest, like the top of Ayu-Dag, for example, and it has excellent views on a fairly large part of the South Coast.

So, looking to the west, you will see the village of Novy Svet and its bay.

In the east you will see a view of Sudak, the Genoese fortress and Cape Meganom.

In good weather you can see the peaks of Kara-Dag.
After a good look, far away in the south-west you can see the highest plateau in the Crimea - Babugan-yaila, on which the highest point of Crimea is located - the top Roman-Kosh.
And right under you the land converges with the sea.
