On the South Coast of Crimea between sanatorium
"Ai-Danil" and Nikitsky Botanical Garden there is a reserved
territory - Cape Martyan. This rock is nothing but a continuation of the
Nikitsky spur, which, in turn, is part of the main ridge of the Crimean mountains.
Cape Martyan is a gigantic limestone cob, which for many years covered the
subtropical southern coastal forest.
In 1973, the cape became a natural reserve "Cape
Martyan", turning into one great attraction. Although, by area it is the
most modest of the reserves of Russia, on its territory are relic Crimean
forests, about 600 species of vegetation, including 23 endemic species. Also
under the protection of the state is the surrounding Black Sea water area.
A shady, comfortable and picturesque trail stretches
along the entire territory of the Cape Martyan reserve. About her know not all,
therefore, passers-by on the trail is not much. Moreover, it's not so easy to
get to the cape - it's a reserve. But, if stops bring a tourist to Cape
Martyan, then along the trail you will have to pass unequivocally. And there
will be a lot of interesting things on the way. The path leads along a pleasant
not very dense forest, in which the tallest juniper, the fuzzy oak and the
small-fruited strawberry predominate.
This is a primeval forest, and scientists
are inclined to believe that the Southern Coast of Crimea looked exactly like
this until people began to master these lands. During the walk, you can see the
natural landscapes yourself and feel the pristine aroma of plants, which are
now so rare not only in the Crimea, but also in other urban settlements.
Throughout the trail there are several branches leading to the coastal cliffs.
Here, at Cape Martyan, nature has created a viewport from which a beautiful
panorama of most of the Southern Coast of Crimea opens.
