The formation of the Yalta
mountain-forest natural reserve took place in 1973. Under the protection of the
state, many plants that form part of the unique sub-Mediterranean undergrowth,
as well as high-pine, oak and beech forests were taken. The flora of the Yalta
Reserve today includes more than 1,300 species of plants, of which 115 are
endemic. 37 species of mammals, 113 species of birds, 11 species of reptiles
and 4 species of amphibians were included in the protected fauna.
According to the Yalta
Reserve, there is a road to the top of Ai-Petri. The transport on the
serpentine is moving slowly, and this makes it possible to enjoy the
surrounding views.
On all the way the traveler is surrounded by majestic pine
trees, whose height exceeds 25-30 meters. The road winds through the reserve
from the ledge to the ledge, until it reaches the Wuchang-Su waterfall, and
after it - to the mountain lake Karagol at an altitude of 578 meters above the
level of the Black Sea. Further the road leads to the Silver gazebo - the
rotunda, installed in the fourth building soldiers, which laid in 1865-1894 the
road from Yalta to Bakhchisaray.
In the Yalta Reserve there
are other natural attractions. On the Taraktash trail you can go to the famous
eponymous crest. The Derekoyka River will lead to the impressive Uch-Kosh
gorge, and to the cliff of the Cross guests of the Crimea will bring out the
famous Stavrikaiskaya trail. According to the Yalta Reserve, several more
nameless footpaths diverge in different directions, but it is impossible to get
lost here, because each of them, in the end, rests on some sight, and from it
to civilization it's a stone's throw away.
