Cliff-ships Elken-Kaya

Stone sailboats or, as they are also called, Cliff-ships are four rocks that are 6 kilometers from the coastline. Each of the rocks has hard-to-pronounce names - Elken-Kaya (height - 20 meters), Karavia, Petra-Karavia, Elchen-Kaya.
Their name was given for similarity to ships sailing. Rocks is folded of reef limestone, which have great strength.

In ancient times were connected to the land and were the continuation of the Parabolic crest. This is the place of nesting gulls, crested cormorants, black swifts and blue-gray pigeons.

During the Great Patriotic War in the Kerch-Feodosiya operation of sovet troops, these rocks was assigned an important strategic role - the highest rock of Elchen-Kaya was to become a temporary beacon among the raging December The Black Sea. And at the cost of the lives of two lieutenants Vladimir Mospan and Demjan Vyzhuly this was realized on the night of December 28, 1941.
